Our History
Paris & Washington Townships Home Insurance Company was organized on 1881 by a group of farmers as an assessment mutual company. The name of the company came from the local townships in Stark County in which the farmers lived. The perils covered at that time were fire, storm and lighting. The policyholders were assessed at the end of each year to pay their proportionate share of the company's expenses for that year. As the company grew it expanded its operations by purchasing an insurance agency now known as Paris & Washington Insurance Agency, Inc. The acquisition of Paris & Washington Insurance Agency Inc. has allowed the company to offer a broader base of insurance coverage to its insured’s. The company has also expanded by contracting with other insurance agencies in order to offer the company's policies throughout the state of Ohio.
On August 5, 2005, the company merged into itself the former Butler & Goshen Township Mutual Aid society, an Ohio mutual protective association. As a result of the merger, the policyholders of Butler & Goshen Township Mutual Aid Society became policyholders of Paris & Washington Townships Home Insurance Co.
